Chad McKenna – percussion and vocals

Vocalist and cellist Chad McKenna grew up harmonizing in a musical family, later performing in choirs, chorales, and acoustic projects from Fort Wayne to Chicago. He now brings vocals and auxiliary percussion to the Tom Mac Group.

Chad McKenna is a lifelong musician, having picked up his first cello at the age of five. Growing-up in a musical family taught him the value of singing together, as well as the skill to harmonize with others. He studied cello, voice, and theatre at Valparaiso University where he also was the lead singer in a lively 11-piece band. (Ask him nicely, and he might tell you what genre his band played!) Since then, he has sung in church choirs and chorales from Fort Wayne to Chicago, and he has dabbled in bluegrass and acoustic rock. Currently, he is a member of Rockford’s Nielsen Chorale, and he regularly plays his cello in the community. He is delighted to be singing in the Tom Mac Group, adding color to the band’s incredible music through both vocal harmonies and auxiliary percussion.
